Getting your Private Pilot License is not as difficult as you might imagine.

Frequently we're asked

What about Ground School?

Most people choose a combination of self-study and our instructor assisted study.

We can offer one on one ground training for those that desire a little more guidance. Each pilot candidate gets individualized attention. We concentrate on those things you have not completely understood and relating the ground school information to inflight experiences. Your pre-flight and post-flight briefings will help you put the ground school information to practical use.

We believe in personalized flight instruction that fits your time, your schedule and assumes you are a self-motivated individual that will use all the books, videos and computer training we will provide you.

What books or other materials will I need?

Don’t worry about it. We will furnish everything you need (as well as some items that other schools expect you to purchase on your own).

How long until I can solo?

It varies by student and is a matter of confidence.

Here at Wing Ventures you will solo when you and your instructor feel you are safe to do so.

We use scenario-based training methods in the Cirrus so it takes little longer to solo than in conventional aircraft.

Once you do solo a Cirrus, you are closer to completion than you are in conventional aircraft.

The longer time to solo in a Cirrus does not increase the total time to completion.

How often should you fly while training?

We recommend at least twice per week in order to retain the knowledge and the muscle memory/feel of being at the controls.

However, if you are an executive or entrepreneur who can control your schedule you may want to look into our Executive Scheduling.

Do you have a yen to take wing?

Each of our flight instructors know that feeling. Each knows what it takes to hold onto that desire and learn to do it safely and surely. Safety for you, for those airborne with you and all the others winging their way to destinations far and wide is our first concern when you trust us for your training.

In order to complete your Private Pilot Course you must:

  • Be 17 years of age or older
  • Understand, speak and read English
  • Pass a 60 question computerized test on your     ground training knowledge (Minium score is 70%)
  • Log a minimum of 40 hours in flight of which 20 must be flight training and at least 10 solo time.
  • Take a “check ride” with an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. This includes an oral exam by the examiner and a flight test where you demonstrate your proficiency in the plane.

During training you will need to accomplish the following:

  • 3 hours of cross country flight training
  •  3 hours of training to fly solely by reference to the instruments
  •  3 hours of night flying experience that includes 10 take off and landings to a full stop plus a cross country trip of over 100 nautical miles
  •  5 hours of solo cross country time with one  trip being 150 miles with 3 stops and one leg over 50 miles.

According to the FAA most people take 60 to 70 hours to complete the flight requirements of the Private Pilot Course. The time you devote to training dictates how long it will take you.

Learning to fly in a Cirrus is somewhat more expensive than older designs. The Cirrus is worth the difference for the comfort and upward mobility as well as the difference it can bring to your lifestyle for business and pleasure. Compare the piecemeal pricing of others to our Totally Inclusive Rate.

No piecemeal pricing. Most flight centers charge separately for every component, aircraft, flight instructor, pilots kits, charts, computer software, medical certificates, the exams and examiners fees, You name it and it will be charged for.

Our TOTALLY INCLUSIVE RATE covers all the training costs. We provide everything you need to learn to fly plus Venture Training exclusively in Cirrus Aircraft at a single, all-inclusive price of $24,500 to get your Private Pilot license and $21,000 to get your instrument rating.

How do I get started?

Call today and schedule an Experience Flight. You will experience a real lesson with one of our CFI’s.

You will get a taste of what it is like to pilot your own plane and see if this is something you definitely want to do.

On our return we discuss how you will use your new Pilot skills and determine the best way to proceed with your training, set a schedule for both the ground and flight segments of your course and get started.

Flight training falls into 4 stages.

  • First your pre-solo. We work on basic aircraft control, take offs and landings
  • Stage 2 is cross-country flight training to prepare you for your solo cross-country trips.
  • Stage 3 is solo cross-country with your instructor’s supervision.
  • Stage 4 is to sharpen up your skills in preparation for the check ride.

The scenario based training keeps adding to and honing your skills with each lesson. You will find that our approach makes it easier than you ever imagined and that it can be matched to our busy schedule without difficulty.
